The challenge
The home's entry door took the full brunt of wind-driven rain and winter weather, and on nice days the homeowners had no way to let fresh air in without leaving the main door wide open. They wanted an extra weather barrier to protect and insulate the entry, plus the option of a screen for ventilation — without hiding their nice front door.
What we did
We installed a full-view aluminum storm door sized and fitted to the existing entry — full glass to show off the front door behind it, with an interchangeable screen panel that swaps in for airflow in warmer months. We set it square in the opening with weatherstripping for a tight seal, fitted a smooth, adjustable closer and a secure handle lock, and finished it clean so it reads as a deliberate part of the entry, not an afterthought.
The result
An entry that's now protected and flexible — the storm door takes the weather off the main door, adds a layer of insulation against winter drafts, and the screen panel lets the family open up for a breeze whenever they want. The full-view glass keeps the entry door on display, and the whole thing went in cleanly in half a day.
