A single-story ranch with one flat color and no curb appeal got a designed exterior — a darker body, lighter gables and a manufactured stone wainscot wrapping the entry, tied together with custom trim. Installed clean and square by our own crew.
From flat and forgettable to a designed, layered exterior.
The challenge
The ranch read as one long flat plane — a single faded color, no contrast, nothing to draw the eye to the entry. The homeowners wanted real curb appeal and a bit of architecture, but on a sensible budget, without changing the footprint of the house.
What we did
We planned a two-tone scheme — a deeper Pewter on the main body with lighter Linen on the gables to add height and contrast — then re-sided the whole home in double-4 vinyl over fresh house wrap. To anchor the entry, we installed a manufactured stone veneer wainscot across the front, set on a proper moisture barrier and metal lath with weep detailing. Custom-bent trim framed the windows, columns and rooflines to tie the two colors and the stone together.
The result
A ranch that now looks designed rather than builder-default — depth from the two-tone body, a stronger, more welcoming entry from the stone, and crisp trim lines holding it all together. Low-maintenance and color-through, with curb appeal that punches well above what the project cost.
