Why bay & bow

A window that makes a room feel bigger.

  • Custom Framed
  • Energy Efficient
  • Quality Workmanship

Bay and bow windows do something a flat window can't: they project out from the wall, drawing in light and views from multiple angles and creating a pocket of space inside — a window seat, a reading nook, a sunlit spot for plants. They're the upgrade that changes how a whole room feels, and they add real curb appeal and resale value from the outside.

A bay window is typically three windows angled out, often with a fixed picture window flanked by operable double-hungs or casements; a bow window curves more gently across four or more units for a softer, rounded projection. We'll help you choose the configuration, glass and operability that fit the room and the wall.

These windows live or die on the install, because they carry their own small roof and structure. Our in-house crews build and insulate the seat and head, flash and roof the projection so it sheds water, and trim it into your siding cleanly — so it's solid, watertight and energy-efficient, finished with careful, quality workmanship.

What we install

Everything a projecting window needs to last.

One in-house crew frames, roofs, insulates and trims the whole projection — no subcontractors.

01

Bay windows

Three-unit projecting windows — usually a fixed center flanked by operable double-hungs or casements — that create a window seat and pull in light.

02

Bow windows

Gently curved windows of four or more units for a softer, rounded projection and a panoramic feel.

03

Garden windows

Small projecting windows, often over a kitchen sink, with glass shelves and side vents — a sunny spot for herbs and plants.

04

Insulated seat & head

The bench and head of the projection framed and insulated so the new space stays comfortable and energy-efficient year-round.

05

Roofing & flashing

A properly built, flashed and roofed projection that sheds water and ties cleanly into the wall above.

06

Matching exterior trim

Trim, soffit and siding wrapped around the projection to match your home's existing exterior exactly.

Bay & Bow FAQ

Bay & bow window questions, answered.

A bay window is usually three units set at sharp angles, often with a large fixed center window — it projects boldly and creates a defined seat. A bow window curves gently across four or more equal units for a softer, rounded look. We'll help you pick the right one for the room and wall.

In most cases, yes — though it involves more than a like-for-like swap because the projection needs framing, a small roof and flashing. We'll assess the wall and opening and tell you what's involved before you commit.

They are when built right. We insulate the seat and head and use Low-E insulated glass, so a well-installed projection performs like the rest of your windows. Poorly installed ones are a common source of drafts — which is why the install matters.

Yes — the projection has a small roof cap that has to be flashed and tied into the wall to stay watertight. We build and finish it as part of the install so water can't get in.

They cost more than a standard flat window because of the units, framing and roofing involved. After a free on-site visit you get an itemized, fixed quote — and we offer financing options.
