Rebuilt treads in a warm terracotta finish against gray risers, with fresh wood-and-gray railing framing the entry.

Porch project · Doylestown, PA

A front porch and staircase restoration that brought a Doylestown Victorian's entry back to life.

A tired, weathered porch and front staircase rebuilt and refinished — new wood where it was needed, fresh railing and posts, and a crisp two-tone finish with a warm terracotta floor and stained treads against gray risers. The kind of entry the house deserves, by our own crew.

The project

From a worn, gray entry to a crisp, finished front porch.

The challenge

The Victorian's front porch and staircase had gone soft and gray — weathered treads, dull railings and a flat, faded floor that dragged down an otherwise charming house. The homeowners wanted the entry restored properly, in keeping with the period detail, not just a quick coat of paint over tired wood.

What we did

We rebuilt what needed rebuilding — replacing worn treads and any soft framing — and fitted fresh wood posts and railing to match the porch. Then we finished it as a designed two-tone entry: the porch floor and stair treads sealed and finished in a warm terracotta and stained wood, with the risers and balusters in a clean gray to frame them. Edges were taped and cut crisp so the paint and stain lines read sharp against the original trim.

The result

An entry that finally matches the house — solid, rebuilt treads underfoot, fresh railing, and a crisp two-tone finish that makes the porch the welcoming focal point it should be. Weather-sealed for the seasons and detailed to suit the Victorian, it took the front of the home from worn-out to standout.

What went into this restoration.

Rebuilt wood where it counted and a crisp, weather-sealed two-tone finish — a porch restoration that respects the period detail and lasts.

01

Rebuilt treads & framing

Worn stair treads and any soft framing replaced with fresh wood — the structural part that makes the staircase safe and solid again.

02

Fresh posts & railing

New wood newel posts and railing fitted to match the porch and bring the entry back up to a clean, finished standard.

03

Two-tone paint & stain

A warm terracotta porch-floor and tread finish against clean gray risers and balusters — sealed against the weather and cut crisp at every line.

04

Careful prep

Surfaces taped, sanded and primed before finish so the paint and stain bite, hold and read sharp against the original Victorian trim.

Front porch & staircase restoration in Doylestown & Lower Bucks County

Doylestown is full of older Victorians and craftsman homes whose front porches do most of the curb-appeal work — and are usually the first thing to weather. Restoring a porch properly means more than a coat of paint: it's rebuilding worn treads and soft framing, refitting railing to suit the period, then finishing with a sealed, weather-ready paint and stain scheme that holds up to foot traffic and seasons.

AVI Exteriors is based in Levittown and restores porches, stairs and decks across Lower Bucks County and South Jersey — Doylestown, New Hope, Buckingham, Newtown, Yardley and beyond. Every job is run by our own crews with careful, quality workmanship. If your front porch has gone gray and tired, we'd be glad to take a look and give you an honest, fixed quote.

★★★★★
Our porch was the worst-looking part of an otherwise beautiful old house. AVI rebuilt the stairs, replaced the railing and finished it in this gorgeous terracotta-and-gray scheme — it completely changed the front of the home. Careful, period-correct work.
