The challenge
The homeowners wanted a generous, usable deck off the back of the house that wouldn't turn into a weekend job every spring. They were done with graying, splintering wood and wanted a clean, modern color with bright railing — something that would read crisp against their new privacy fence and stay that way.
What we did
We poured frost-depth footings and framed a level, code-built substructure, then laid capped composite boards in a low-sheen gray with a contrasting border picture-framing the field. White vinyl railing with square balusters wraps the perimeter, and a clean run of stairs steps down to the patio. Everything is fastened tight and square so the long board runs stay straight across the whole deck.
The result
A large, low-maintenance deck that looks sharp against the fresh wood fence — gray composite that won't splinter, rot or need staining, framed by bright white railing that wipes clean. The homeowners got a usable outdoor floor with a 25-year composite warranty behind it and nothing to sand or seal each year.
